Blue Fronted Amazon

I recently purchased a Blue Fronted Amazon Male Parrot. He is great,
but I have a problem with biting and not being able to get him to go on
my hand or finger. He is 7 months old and I have had him for 3 weeks
now. He loves his head pet, and talks up a storm. I leave him out of
his cage once daily and loves his play gym, or the top of his cage. He
owns his cage and inside and out. He really goes after you when you try
to get him on your hand or finger. I have tried taking him away from
his cage and putting him in the bedroom on a blanket for his time out
and he does ok but still will not get on your hand or finger. How long
does it take to train them to do it? He takes treats from me and just
about turns upside down in his cage for me to pet his head and neck
thru the cage openings. I just feel like I am doing something wrong and
do not know what to do. Does anyone have any answers for me? Like I
said he is lovable and silly and even dances with me thru his cage. He
moves back and forth when I do it and I say dancey dance several times
and then he does it. He knows my voice and me, I just cannot get him

Patience Grasshopper, you have honly had the bird for three weeks. I
would start out using a 1' dowell rod about 12 - 16" long and get him
used to stepping up on it. Once he has been around longer and more
used to you then start offering him your hand to step up on. Remember,
he is just a baby and you have only had him for three weeks. Patience
Grasshopper.
