Having successfully kept my first Black Moor alive and well for a month it
was time to add another to the tank.

Not wishing to introduce unforeseen problems with the new fish I decided to
quarantine for a few days.

Knowing the tap water was heavily chlorinated I bought a gallon bottle of
mineral water and after getting to room temperature introduced the fish into
it.

This was yesterday evening. Fish appeared to be ok. Fish ok this morning.
Returning home from work this evening the fish is dead and most of the
colour has gone and now almost golden in colour.

Have I been naive about the water or could there be another problem ?

You should never use mineral water. Go to the shop you bought the fish
from and ask for chemical to treat tap water

Bottled water has an unstable PH, tap water with dechlor should be fine in
most cases. If you do use mineral water or RO water you need to add
minerals back in.

You should also take a look at above post "fellow fishes for my
goldfish" just in case you may end up overstocking. As an aside lower
quality black moors turn gold when still alive. I guess it's normal
enough for fish to change colors when they die though.
