Does anybody grow Anacharis in their tanks? If so, what are the ideal water conditions for it fluorish? I think the PH in my tank is around 6 - 6 1/2, but I don't see much growth, and the plants aren't lush, in fact, the leaves are somewhat brownish. Any suggestions? Thanks All, S.

Should I remove the lead bands around the base of my anacharis? The answer seems obvious, but they are so nicely bunched right now...
« I don't believe the lead will hurt anything, but anacharis that tightly bunched won't grow well, no light gets to the bottom leaves and they fall off. It won't hurt, but won't last looking the way .. »

Hello RAFP I would appreciate knowing what plants might do well for me with no heat ... Anacharis... Ceratophyllum... ? I'm thinking especially of the smaller types. How about fern/ moss species? Thanks, Steve

Where's the best place to purchase aquarium plants in Toronto, Big Als? I had some Water Hyacinths in the tank over the winter, but the GF savaged them. The rest died off when I reduced the light to keep the temps down. Although I have gravel, I'd like to get some floaters like Hornwort or Anachar..

I think I have blue-green algae in my tank (cyanobacteria). The problem is that it's not green at all. It's brown in color. It seems to behave like blue-green algae because it's usually in the spots with little water movement, on the gravel and hanging on anacharis/elodea and surrounding my hairgr..

Another question... hehe, I've got plenty of them. The Red Ludwigia and Anacharis in my tank seems to be growing roots from several places along the stem of the plants. I'm planning on setting up a small tank (10g) to propagate plants for my larger tank. This would be for low light plants, say Anacharis, duckweed, java moss, etc. Would natural sunlight be enough for this? If not I have some grow lights I can hang above the tank. I won't have a filter hooked up ..
