My daughter wants to get two parakeets. I already have a cockatiel and
wanted to know if it would be safe for her to get parakeets. We wouldn't
be putting them together, she would have the parakeets separate in her
bedroom (where she spends most of her time). I only want to know if
anyone here would think my tiel would get jealous of the other birds and
start in on plucking his feathers, or something else drastic?

I hope I get a reply soon ... thanx

Does the cockatiel get enough attention? If he does he should be fine. I
have had a lot of cockatiels and parakeets and there has never been an issue
probably because the cockatiels got so much attention from my family (mostly
me).

He gets plenty of attention by everyone in the family, especially by me.
He is a sweetheart and I was hoping this wouldn't cause a problem, if my
daughter gets a couple of Parakeets. Thank you so much Jan. I will give
her the *go ahead* to get the birds. I was thinking my tiel would be
fine anyway, but thought I would ask from someone that's had the same
type of birds :-)

It's ok, just be ready for LOTS of noise as the tiel tries to
communicate
with the other birds he hears.

I guess I'll have to get earplugs then. I'll be ready for the noise!
